Meet Steve Glazer

Steve Glazer moved to Orinda with his family in 1996. He was first elected to the Orinda City Council in 2004 and was re-elected in 2008 and again in 2012. He has held the position of Mayor in 2007 and 2012. Previously, he was a member of the city's park and recreation commission.

He has served as a community leader on successful efforts to establish community funding for the Orinda Unified School District, Moraga Orinda Fire District and the Orinda Library. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Sleepy Hollow Swim and Tennis Club.

Glazer is the president of Glazer & Associates, a strategic and communications consulting company that he formed in 1989. His clients include companies, landowners, environment organizations, and non-profit associations. He has held a variety of senior positions in the California Legislature, which include posts with then-Assemblyman Gray Davis and then-Senate President Pro Tempore David Roberti. In addition, he has served as Jerry Brown’s advisor since 2009.

Glazer sits on the board of the Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority, which is responsible for garbage and recycling services in portions of Contra Costa County. In 2011, he was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to be a Trustee of the 23 campus California State University system.

Glazer has received numerous awards and recognition for his volunteerism and professional endeavors. In 2009, he was recognized as a Outstanding Partner in Education by the Association of California School Administrators, Diablo Valley Chapter. In 2011, he was honored as Political Strategist of the Year by the American Association of Political Consultants.

Glazer earned a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University.
